A Facebook spokesperson indicated that the WhatsApp application will launch a new feature.
The WhatsApp application, owned by a Facebook company, has revealed the addition of the audio and video call function to the computer version.
A Facebook spokesperson said the “WhatsApp” app will allow its users to make voice and video calls on the computer version next year.
According to Reuters, WhatsApp’s move will place it among the top video calling apps such as “Zoom” and “Google is dead.”
WhatsApp is considered one of the largest communication applications in the world and is used by at least two billion people in various countries.
WhatsApp said that it had already released the video and audio communication feature for some users of the computer version of the application as a test, according to the technical blog “WABetaInfo.”
The coronavirus outbreak this year increased the demand for communication apps, especially since millions have worked from home.
In the face of intense competition between applications, Zoom said on Friday that it canceled the limitation of the duration of calls through its application, during the holidays, which did not exceed 40 minutes.
And Google has announced that users of the free version of the application will not have to end their calls when they reach 60 minutes, until next March.
According to details reported by the newspaper “Daily Mail”, the new version of WhatsApp will offer options to make voice and video calls, along with the search button at the top of the screen.
The application will open a new window for current calls, allowing the user to follow their other correspondence through the application.
