On Monday, the US Treasury Department announced the imposition of sanctions against Syrian personalities and entities.
And the order, according to the statement from the United States Treasury, to eight people and 11 entities, including companies operating in the oil sector.
The move, which specifically targeted Syria’s Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources, as well as Syrian military officials, members of Parliament and government entities, to pressure Bashar al-Assad’s regime to stop the war against its people.
US Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin said in a statement that “the Treasury Department is determined to continue to exert economic pressure on the Assad regime and its supporters to oppress the regime.”
The following are the names of the individuals and entities to which the new US sanctions apply:

The list of new sanctions also included four Chinese people related to the Hong Kong file.
And last August, the US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) cracked down on the Syrian Presidential Office and the Syrian Baath Party.
US Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin said at the time that officials sanctioned by Washington were the ones who helped the Assad regime to suppress its people.
Luna Al-Shibl, a prominent journalist close to Assad, and his adviser, and one of the Syrian government’s top press officials, was one of those targeted by Washington last August.
The Office of Foreign Assets Control also included Muhammad Ammar al-Saati bin Muhammad Nawzad (Saati) today. Al-Saati is a longtime leader within the Syrian Baath Party, a former Syrian Member of Parliament, and the husband of the cub.
And in June the “Caesar Law” passed by the United States Congress came into force, by which it imposed financial sanctions on Syrian officials, businessmen and all foreigners who deal with Damascus, including Russian and Iranian entities, and provides for the freezing of aid for reconstruction.
Assad’s crackdown on protesters in 2011 led to a civil war, with Iran and Russia supporting the government and the United States supporting the opposition.
Millions of people have fled Syria and millions more have been internally displaced.
Syria is subject to US and European sanctions that frozen the assets of the state and hundreds of companies and individuals. Washington already prohibits exports to Syria and investments by Americans there, as well as transactions related to oil and gas products.
