Macron visits Lebanon on the 22nd … and five life sentences for the murder of Rafik Hariri.

The prosecution of Lebanese Acting Prime Minister Hassan Diab on charges of “negligence” in the Beirut port bombing case sparked widespread Sunni solidarity under the slogan “Defend the Prime Minister’s Office.”

While Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri paid a “solidarity” visit in support of Diab to the Grand Serail, the first for Hariri since Diab headed the government, Mufti Abd al-Latif Derian called Diab and praised his “position and cleanliness. of hands”.

Drian considered that the indictment against “the position of prime minister is an unacceptable political objective and violates the constitution and the law on trying former presidents and ministers”.

After meeting Diab, Hariri confirmed that he would not agree to blackmail the prime minister.

On the other hand, the Elysee Palace announced last night that President Emmanuel Macron will visit Lebanon on December 22 and 23 to follow up on efforts to implement his initiative.

Furthermore, the Special Tribunal for Lebanon sentenced Salim Ayyash, accused of the murder of Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, to five life sentences, and the court found him the only one guilty of this crime.

In addition, the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, said that the sentence against Ayyash “reflects the international community’s commitment to justice for the atrocious crimes” committed by those involved in this attack.
