Large areas of the US state of Tennessee have witnessed continued disruption to communications and their power sources following the explosion in Nashville on Friday morning, according to the Associated Press.
And the outages that affected the headquarters of the communications company “AT&T” disrupted police emergency systems throughout Tennessee as well as Kentucky, as well as the Corona Injury Hotline in Nashville.
The telecommunications company noted that the repair efforts faced many obstacles, including the outbreak of a fire that caused the closure of its building. I worked with security and construction crews to drill holes in the building access to reconnect power.
The company said in a statement Saturday that “our crews continue to work around the clock with repair efforts since yesterday morning’s explosion in Nashville.”
“We have two mobile sites operating in downtown Nashville with many mobile sites deployed in Nashville and the area,” he added.
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee appealed to the White House for federal help on Saturday, given the “severity and scale” of the blast’s effects.
Li said at least 41 buildings were damaged, in addition to communication systems, including mobile and home phone service and the 911 emergency call center, which were disrupted across the state.
Lee noted that the faults spread to Kentucky and northern Alabama as well.
The disruptions also led to the suspension of flights at the Nashville airport, but they returned to normal as of Saturday morning.
According to Nashville Metro Police Chief John Drake, police officers were responding on Friday to a report of the shooting at a time when they encountered the explosion of a vehicle that was firing a recorded warning from the A bomb blast, prompting security to evacuate nearby buildings and call in the bomb squad.
The reason for the explosion is still unknown and the authority believes that it was carried out deliberately.
