Senior US and Israeli officials revealed that Tel Aviv and Manama will sign a declaration on the establishment of diplomatic relations and peace. The declaration will be an interim agreement and will include the establishment of diplomatic relations and the opening of embassies in the countries in question.

The Jerusalem Post newspaper, citing the Hebrew site Walla, said the agreement will be signed in the Bahraini capital Manama by senior officials from both countries, under the auspices of US Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and Special Representative of White House International Negotiations, Avibier Quetz. The Treasury Department said in a statement that US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman will also join the US delegation.

According to the source, the goal is to begin to implement the White House Declaration of Peace, back up its details and define general principles for relations between the two countries.

The statement will serve as the framework for a series of agreements to be signed in various locations, according to the official who spoke with Walla.

The two-page declaration will include an agreement to establish diplomatic relations and an agreement to open embassies in the countries concerned.

Within the agreement, Israel and Bahrain will pledge not to take hostile action towards each other and will work to prevent hostilities by a third party. He also affirms that the two countries are committed to coexistence and peace.

Furthermore, the agreement will identify a list of 10 areas in which the two parties will cooperate, including investment, civil aviation, tourism, trade, science and technology, environment, communications, health, agriculture, water, energy and legal cooperation.

And US President Donald Trump announced, last September, a peace agreement that he described as historic between Israel and Bahrain, weeks after a similar agreement concluded by the United Arab Emirates with Israel.

For his part, Israeli researcher and academic Eddy Cohen described this announcement as a happy event, adding that the entire Israeli people are happy with this agreement, and explained that there is an atmosphere of joy in Israel for the existence of a true peace agreement with the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

He highlighted in a special vision statement that all Israelis intend to visit Bahrain for tourism and cooperation purposes, and explained that the agreement is in the interest of the two countries and the interests of the two peoples, and both countries can cooperate and exchange experiences in various fields and investments.

Cohen also indicated that this peace will open the door to other countries that will soon join, according to the “vision.”
