Over the last few days, the clashes taking place in the west of the city of Marib have turned into a battle of attrition for the forces of the outgoing president, Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi. This is due to the extension of the confrontations to the desert areas of the west and east of the city, characterized by atrocities as a result of the intensification of the aggression air attacks, which have exceeded 200 incursions since the middle of last week. This caused a high number of casualties among the Hadi forces, who were forced to fight by Riyadh.
Those forces were subject to a large number of deaths on the Ragwan, Hallan and Al-Sahari fronts, located between the governorates of Ma’rib and Al-Jawf, where they lost, according to tribal sources, more than 150 dead in a few days. The sources accused the parties loyal to the coalition of aggression to transfer their internal conflicts to the fronts and indirectly get rid of their opponents, pushing them under threats and intimidation to open fronts without securing their backs, explaining that the leadership of the “coalition” did clear threats to Hadi’s forces that they would consider any force. It withdraws from its sites west of Marib, as a legitimate target.
According to intelligence sources, earlier this month, the leadership of the “coalition” ordered the leadership of Hadi’s forces in Marib to quickly form an intelligence committee to receive information on formations and units that intend to hand over military sites to the forces. of Sana’a and join them. Furthermore, and in accordance with the coalition’s request for aggression, Hadi’s forces pushed most of their military leaders in Marib to the front lines on the fronts west of Ma’rib and east of Al-Jawf, and the toll was the murder of several high-ranking leaders in a few days. On Tuesday, four senior leaders were killed in the battles of Raghwan, Hallan and Al-Sahari, located between the governorates of Ma’rib and Al-Jawf, by fire from the army and the “popular committees”, causing the collapse of the morale of the forces on those fronts. The clashes, which subsided relatively earlier this week, have returned and intensified after the United Nations announced the postponement of the new round of consultations on prisoners, which was scheduled to begin last Thursday. Last Monday, Sana’a forces responded to a series of attacks carried out by Hadi’s forces, backed by dozens of airstrikes near the Al-Mas camp. Similar clashes broke out on the outskirts of the Raghwan district of Ma’rib governorate and, according to reported sources, they managed to seize control of the areas of Bashhar, Al-Maqatir, Yasehir and Al-Darm, and then advance on the ground. on Wednesday in the Al Marwan area, reaching the vicinity of the Al-Haffar area in the same direction. In addition, on Wednesday, Sana’a forces were able to secure a number of desert areas between the Al-Jawf and Marib governorates, including areas on the Al-Jadafar front, and repelled several attacks in the area of ​​aggression, as well as fought clashes. violent in the Al-Aqsa – Khasaf – Al-Borsh front east of Al-Jawf, and advanced. This comes amid notable statements by several pro-Hadi military and civilian leaders, including the commander of the Sixth Military Region, Brigadier Hashem al-Ahmar, who awaited the fall of the city of Marib a few days ago, as that Sheikh Khaled Al-Arada, close to the governor of Ma’rib loyal to Hadi, advised the local authority to negotiate with Sanaa Destruction of the city. At this time, Saudi forces continued to withdraw heavy weapons from Marib for the past few days. Military sources from Hadi’s forces stated that Riyadh removed heavy equipment from the Sahn al-Jin area in the city of Ma’rib last Wednesday, adding that Saudi Arabia also removed 18 modern military vehicles and two modern cannons from the Sahn al- Jin, fearing that they would fall under the control of Sana’a’s forces.
At the same time, the “International Organization for Migration” announced that the Ma’rib governorate recorded the highest rate of displacement from the fronts surrounding the city to the camps for internally displaced persons during the current year. The organization said in a statement Thursday that it had registered more than 150,000 displaced people in all governorates since the beginning of this year, and expressed concern about escalating fighting in the vicinity of the city.
