Federal agents announced the seizure of a ton of methamphetamine in Los Angeles, noting that it was the largest amount of drugs seized by the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DIA) in the territory of the United States.

The agency’s acting director, Timothy Shi, said during a press conference that this amount of drugs “is enough to provide a dose of methamphetamine to every man, woman and child in the United States and Mexico.”

The investigation began last June. He established a large network in Southern California with ties to the Mexican Sinaloa Cartel and discovered multiple drug caches in the area.

After monitoring the traffickers, security agents were able to seize a total of one ton of methamphetamine (exceeding $ 7 million when sold in the market), as well as 400 kilograms of cocaine and six kilograms of heroin.

Timothy Shi said it was “the largest amount of methamphetamine seized by the DIA in the national territory, dealing a severe blow to the cartels, in what constitutes a great victory” for the residents of Southern California.

And the official added: “All studies show that drug addiction is linked to an increase in violent crime, including robbery, assault and murder.”

Los Angeles and the surrounding area are a conduit for drug trafficking across the border by Mexican traffickers.
