The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces issued the following communication:
This morning, 11-21-2020, 69 prisoners escaped from the police station of Qasr Adil Police Station, Baabda.
Fifteen of them were arrested and four surrendered. There was also a traffic accident on Boulevard Camille Chamoun – Al-Hadat district, where a white Nissan car collided with a tree, and it turned out that several fugitive prisoners were on board after their driver was robbed.
The traffic accident caused the death of five people and an injury, which is being treated in a hospital.
The investigations and inquiries are intense and the searches continue to arrest the rest of the fugitive prisoners, and their number, at the time of the issuance of this report, was 44 fugitives.
Investigations into the circumstances of the accident are underway, under the supervision of the competent judiciary.
For this reason, the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces and Bodies asks citizens who have some information about the whereabouts of one of the fugitives to call the emergency number 112, noting that every citizen contributes to giving any information whose name is kept confidential, according to law.
