The announcement of the cancellation of the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Lebanon, in the context of his contagion with the Coronavirus, created a state of shame in Beirut, especially at the level of political forces that are betting on the French initiative, as a rescue.

The visit of the Deputy Secretary General of the Arab League, Hussam Zaki, to Beirut yesterday, was a message of revitalization of the government movement, reflecting the commitment of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to the agreement he made with Macron to save Lebanon.

Despite the disappointment that resulted from the cancellation of Macron’s visit, the visit of Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri to Bkerke and his “salty” Maronite patriarch Bechara Al-Rahi at dinner reduced the sectarian tension that began to build. appear after the incubation of the former prime ministers, the interim prime minister, Hassan Diab, and the provocative positions of the Free Patriotic Movement, mainly aimed at evaluating its popular presence calling for the rights of Christians.

Follow-up sources praised the visit and considered it a successful step by the designated Prime Minister, but she hoped that she was wrong in her information when saying that the calm in the political arena in Lebanon and the cessation of the exchange between the Patriotic Movement Libre and his old ally, the Future Movement, is the calm before the storm.

The sources referred part of the successive obstacles to congestion that the US sanctions had generated with the head of the movement, Gebran Bassil, and in another aspect, which is the basis, to the theory of “creative chaos” that is being implemented in Lebanon. .

Among the indications of this is the directive issued by the General Directorate of Islamic Endowments to focus on Friday’s sermons, in supporting the position of the interim prime minister, Hassan Diab, in his refusal to receive the judicial investigator today, for questioning as accused of labor negligence in dealing with the presence of explosive nitrates in the port of Beirut, at one point, other Islamic circles called on all those accused by the Judiciary to attend and demonstrate their commitment to the law, as well as that they prove their innocence, because what will happen today will strengthen the position of those involved from the other political and sectarian side of their religious referents.

However, Judge Sawan anticipated all this by announcing the postponement of the interrogation of the prime minister, to a date to be determined later, in light of what will be decided at the level of the House of Representatives, since this complex file often leads to double prosecution. The House of Representatives, through the Supreme Council for the Prosecution of Presidents and Ministers, made up of 15 members (8 judges and 7 deputies), examines aspects related to violations of the constitution and violations derived from the position, as well as the Court of Cassation dictates the request of the two ministers, Representatives Ali Hassan Khalil and Ghazi Zuaiter, to replace Judge Sawan on suspicion.

Representative Jamil Al-Sayed contradicted the position of the House of Representatives, which insists on the immunity of prosecuted ministers and parliamentarians, and told “LBC”: There is no immunity from the judicial investigator … and the judicial investigator has no right to arrest junior officers without their superiors.

In turn, MP Hadi Abu Al-Hassan praised the role of Major Joseph Al-Naddaf in detecting explosive materials and called for him to shoot himself together with two other officers who he believes have no role in what happened.

In addition, the former Minister of Works Youssef Fenianos, nor his legal representative, did not attend Judge Sawan’s office yesterday, and did not justify the reasons for his absence. A session was also held to question the Director General of State Security, Major General Tony Saliba, and a source close to Judge Sawan revealed to “Alanba” that “Saliba’s agent” Lawyer Nidal Khalil attended Judge Sawan’s office , and informed him that his client is out of the office and is ready to appear before him and carry out a confrontation between him and the pioneer of State Security, Joseph Al-Naddaf, detained in the file.

The source pointed out that “when Sawan asked the lawyer Khalil to call his client to enter, he left a bit and returned to inform the judicial investigator that Major General Saliba left the Palace of Justice and went to the Republican Palace because the departments from the Baabda Palace called him and informed him that President Michel Aoun wants to meet him, and then Major Nawaf was returned to the place of his arrest. ”

For its part, the General Directorate of State Security asked the media not to circulate false information about Major General Tony Saliba’s lack of attendance at his session, which was scheduled for yesterday.

He said in a statement: “It is important that the General Directorate of State Security clarifies that the General Director of State Security, Major General Tony Saliba, has arrived at the Beirut Palace of Justice at the appointed time, and the Directorate reiterates its I wish not to publish or circulate any news without verifying its authenticity, which would mislead the investigation ”.
