British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab said he met with his American counterpart Anthony Blinken, as well as the foreign ministers of Germany and France, on Tuesday to discuss peace initiatives for Yemen.
This comes after Saudi Arabia presented, on Monday, an initiative to stop the war in Yemen, establish peace, start negotiations and an immediate ceasefire.
Raab added in a tweet, using images of the flags of the four countries instead of mentioning their names in his message: “From pushing for peace in Yemen to preventing Iran from becoming a nuclear power, Britain, the United States, France and Germany unite as a force for good. “
Britain and the United States were at the forefront of the major countries expressing their welcome and support for the Saudi initiative for peace in Yemen.
Raab continued: “I met personally for the first time today, with Blinken and Heiko Maas (Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany), and Jean-Yves Le Drian (Minister of Foreign Affairs of France), to discuss the challenges and opportunities that await us. .
The Saudi initiative garnered broad UN, Arab and international support, putting pressure on Houthi militias loyal to Iran to halt their terrorist operations.
