Yesterday, Sana’a forces advanced to the vicinity of “Al-Mas” from three directions.

Tribal sources loyal to Sana’a reported, “Al-Akhbar”, that the fighting remains the most intense, in light of a desperate defense attempt by Hadi’s forces to prevent the fall of the camp. Sources claimed that the “diamonds” have come under fire from the army and the “committees” completely, which means that their fall has become “a matter of time”, noting that the top leadership of the “seventh military region” de Hadi ordered his forces on Thursday to withdraw completely from inside the camp. And its environment and its rear under the justification of preserving the remaining human forces that belonged to it, after it lost most of its brigades in the Al-Youfra area, which fell under the control of the Sana’a forces in the middle June, “expressing their reluctance to present more military casualties in the battle to defend the losing field.” According to the same sources.
The intensification of the battle for the Al-Mas camp in recent days came in response to a new escalation attempt led by the “coalition” on the western front of Marib. According to sources close to the Hadi government, the Chief of Staff of the latter’s forces, Major General Saghir bin Aziz, and the commander of the Saudi forces in Ma’rib (who was based in the camp as headquarters that it contained several military operations rooms), Brigadier General Ali Sayer Al-Anzi, mobilized more forces. The militants of the tribes loyal to Riyadh carry out military attacks on the Al-Mukhdarah, Najd Al-Ataq and Al-Jafra fronts, which are strategic fronts with a complex terrain that fell under the control of the army and the “Popular Committees” during the last months of this year. Bin Aziz is accused of complicity in his delivery. The result was that Sana’a forces faced escalating escalation and prevented a series of attacks carried out by Hadi’s forces with strong air support from the aggression aviation on those fronts, and the transition from the defense to attack during the last days.

Attempts by Hadi’s forces and the Saudi leadership in Marib to achieve some progress on the shafts surrounding the Al-Mas camp, aimed at protecting the camp from attacks by Sana’a forces and securing the western gate of the city of Ma’rib, as the “diamonds”, which are about to fall under the control of the army and the “committees”, It is considered a strategic military base that Riyadh has taken as the headquarters of its forces and point of departure for its operations in the governorates of Ma’rib and Al-Jawf. West of Marib, it does not exceed 8 square kilometers.
The journey of the fall of the “diamonds” began months ago, with the forces of Sana’a controlling the Al-Jafra and Najd al-Manqdara and Najd fronts, giving the army and the “committees” a wide margin to attack any strategic objective in the city of Marib and its western surroundings. Then, and specifically at the end of last October, and after a violent battle that lasted more than 96 hours in Najd al-Ataq, the Sana’a forces continued to control the remaining sites that were under the control of Hadi’s forces in the Al-Youfra sector and the drug sector, to approach the Al-Mas camp and impose it Fierce control of the south and west. Last June, the army and the “committees” took control, after violent battles, over the highly fortified strategic area of ​​Al-Youfra, and then over areas such as Al-Youfra, Tala` Miyyah, Al-Batin, Hallan Valley , Hazm Al-Rai and the Ma’rib-Al-Jawf international highway, boycotting. With this, all of Hadi’s forces supply lines from the northwest of the city. They continued the closure of the camp by taking control of the Najd al-Ataq front, following the policy of great encouragement by surrounding Marib and attacking the positions of the enemy forces. The gradual advance of the Sana’a forces led the Saudi side to withdraw all the Patriot batteries that the “coalition” had installed in the vicinity of “Almas” since 2017. According to the data of the battle, the army and the ” committees “advance into the camp from more than one direction. They penetrated the Mash Valley and the vast areas surrounding the “diamond.”
It is noteworthy that the strategic camp was one of the most prominent camps of the son of former President Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh, during 2010, and was receiving dozens of US soldiers under the pretext of training Yemeni forces to “fight terrorism.” In February 2016, the missile force in Sanaa targeted Saudi forces present in the field with a “Tochka” missile, which is the second Russian “Tochka” missile to be used against enemy targets. This operation resulted in the death of 100 people and injuries, after which the “coalition” installed an air defense system and Patriot batteries in the vicinity of the camp.
