A new report released online today confirmed that the Korean giant has started working on a new processor to provide better performance than its current Exynos 990 processor, and that the new version comes with performance that mimics the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor.

Expectations indicate that Samsung wants to support the Galaxy Note20 series of phones, to be announced in August, with the new Exynos 992 processor, which comes with a 6nm manufacturing precision, with enhancements to the company’s current Exynos 990 processor.

Samsung has manufactured a series of Galaxy S20 phones in the Korean, Chinese, and United States markets with a Snapdragon 865 processor chip, while the Galaxy S20 series phones have been launched in other markets with an Exynos 990 processor chip.

Samsung has faced a lot of criticism in the recent period, as a result of the problems that appear in the Exynos 990 models, which exceed the consumption of higher energy, leading to a heating of the phones.

The Exynos 992 processor is expected to bring improvements to the architecture the processor is based on, to support better CPU performance than Snapdragon 865 also outperforms, with lower power consumption.

Previous leaks were also reported to point to Qualcomm’s plans to launch a Snapdragon 865 Plus processor, which also brings performance improvements for the first version, so this may be one of the reasons that led the Korean giant to develop its own upgrade on the Exynos 992 processor chip.
