The “Safe Travel Barometer”, a comprehensive database of health and safety protocols related to the “Covid-19” virus, has been ranked as the safest airport in the Middle East and Africa region, according to a statement from press published by the database website.

According to the September 2020 assessment, Abu Dhabi International Airport tied Dubai International Airport as the safest airport in the region with a score of 4.5 out of 5.

Proactive measures taken by the two airports to improve the passenger experience included requiring passengers to wear disposable gloves and masks, as well as frequent disinfection operations of the terminal building, escalators and common public spaces, according to the statement.

After Abu Dhabi International and Dubai International, Hamad International Airport with a score of 4.3, then Bahrain International Airport with a score of 4.

Airport scores are based on independent audits of more than 200 airports and 20 health and safety standards announced by airports.
