“On November 22, Russian peacekeepers escorted a new convoy of buses transporting refugees from the territory of the Republic of Armenia to Karabakh,” a ministry statement said.
The statement added that the 34 buses transported the displaced from the Armenian capital, Yerevan, and took them to the central square of the city of Stepanakert, capital of the Karabakh region, where the convoy was accompanied by peacekeepers and military police. Russians.
And earlier today, Karabakh President Araik Harutyunyan said that 25,000 refugees have returned to the region in the past five days, indicating that the process is progressing at a rapid pace.
The process of returning Armenian refugees to areas that remained under the control of the Karabakh authorities began after the ceasefire in and around the region, according to the agreement signed by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia on November 10.
The agreement provides for the deployment of Russian peacekeepers on the line of contact between the Azerbaijani and Armenian forces, and along the Lachin corridor linking Armenia and Karabakh.
