Russia’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that the upcoming US sanctions against Russian individuals and entities associated with Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov are an unfounded sample of steps.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, in a comment posted on the ministry’s website, said that “the next part of the US sanctions on Russia, which have been in place for a long time, are elusive and they are not supported by evidence. ”

Zakharova described the US move as “clumsy” and noted that it aims to impose an image of Russians on the international community as “human rights violators”.

Yesterday, the United States Treasury Department announced the imposition of sanctions related to complaints of human rights violations on individuals and entities in Russia, Yemen and Haiti.

Among those sanctioned is Ramzan Kadyrov, president of the Russian republic of Chechnya.

In its statement, the US Treasury Department said it had also imposed sanctions on six companies registered in Russia and five people close to Chechen President Kadyrov.

Sanctions were also imposed on “three Haitians for alleged human rights violations and five people linked to security and intelligence agencies in Yemen.”
