Russia saw a record increase in the number of deaths from the Corona virus outbreak, reaching 613 deaths over the past 24 hours, while 28,585 new infections were recorded.

As part of efforts made by health authorities to combat the epidemic, Russia last week embarked on a comprehensive vaccination campaign, which began with the groups most at risk from the epidemic, and then included all residents of the country.

On Friday, the Russian Center for Epidemic Control announced that 26,171 people recovered during the last day, bringing the number of people in recovery since the start of the epidemic to two million and 59,840 people.

According to the latest figures and official data, the death toll in Russia from the pandemic has risen to 45,893 cases, while so far two million and 597,711 cases of the virus have been registered.

The Moscow health authorities registered 7,215 injuries in the last 24 hours, followed by the city of Petersburg, where 3,779 injuries were registered.

Last week, the Russian health authorities announced the start of a vaccination campaign targeting the groups most vulnerable to infection, to later include the rest of the Russian population.

The director of the Russian Institute for Research in Microbiology “Gamalia”, Alexander Ginsburg, said Thursday that more than 150,000 residents of Russia have been vaccinated with the “Sputnik V” vaccine against the Corona virus so far.

It is planned to start vaccination campaigns against the Corona virus, in all regions of Russia, before the end of this week.
