The Russian Ministry of Health confirmed that it sees no obstacle to the use of the drug “hydroxychloroquine” in the treatment of the emerging coronavirus (Covid_19).
“From a pharmacology point of view, there are no clinical barriers to using this batch of hydroxychloroquine,” the Russian Ministry of Health said in a statement.
He explained that this drug “does not differ in terms of efficacy and safety compared to drugs previously registered in Russia with the same unregistered international name.”
The drug is expected to be distributed to hospitals that treat cases of Covid-19 or people suspected of being infected.
Chloroquine as hydroxychloroquine is stated to be a medicine that has been used for decades in the treatment of malaria. But both of these drugs have serious side effects, especially if given in high doses or along with other drugs, even though they both have antiviral benefits.
