During a phone call with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev, Rouhani described the Republic of Azerbaijan as the “good neighbor” of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He added that the Iranian people as a whole have very close historical, cultural and sectarian ties with Azerbaijan, and the relations between the people and the governments of these two neighboring and sister countries have always been strong.
Rouhani expressed during his telephone conversations today with his Azerbaijani counterpart his concern about the possible interference of other countries in the disputes between Azerbaijan and Armenia and turning this conflict into a regional war.

He added that bilateral relations have always been on the rise in recent years, and Baku welcomes the expansion of these ties with Tehran.
Aliyev also described the “fight against terrorism” in the region as one of the areas of cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan, telling President Rouhani that protecting peace, stability and tranquility in the region is a necessity that everyone must. strive to achieve.
