Russia has confirmed that it is “very angry” about the United States’ attempts to “distort” the role of the Soviet Union in the defeat of Nazi Germany in 1945.
Moscow has indicated that it wants to have a “serious dialogue” on the matter with US officials.
“We are very angry at the attempts to distort the results of our country’s decisive contribution” to the defeat of the Nazis, according to the France-Presse agency.
This Russian statement came after a statement released by the White House posted on Facebook, in which he mentioned the United States and Britain as those who defeated the Nazis.
The statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry accused US officials of “not having the courage or the will to honor the undeniable role and enormous burden of the Red Army and the Soviet people on behalf of all humanity.”
