“Reef 2020” was supposed to start from a heritage silk factory in Qobayat (Akkar), with open-air cinemas, seminars and environmental activities, and a “clean day” that launched the “Food from Nature” cycle, which would last one year. However, the spread of the epidemic in the northern city caused the cancellation of all meetings, prompting the organizers (the Environment Council in Kobayat, the Beirut DC Association and the Cultural Hall) to change the course of the festival, which will launch from the silk factory in Al Qobayat to digital cinemas. The platform “Our Films”, and another platform live in Marj Bisri. In the heart of nature and among the perennial pines, a symposium will be held: “Marj Bisri, After the Victory, where to?” In the presence of the people of the region, legal and environmental specialists and activists defending Al-Marj, followed by the screening of the film “Al-Marj” by Muhammad Sabbah.
At the same time, a short film contest for young people was launched that addresses the issue of Corona’s impact on people and nature, with the participation of 20 films, which will be voted on by the public (between October 8 and 14), before the winning entries are announced at the closing ceremony in Beirut De C. “Please note that the jury is made up of actress Rima Khcheich, actress Carole Abboud and director Ahmed Ghossein.
