Syrian businessman Rami Makhlouf said that “Syriatel, with the force of law, must pay the amount previously announced by its donation to those affected by the fires on the Syrian coast.”

Makhlouf said that the amount of the grant, which amounts to 7 billion pounds, is not from the amounts seized, “because the seizure belongs to us personally, and not to Syriatel or its partners.”

He stressed that the company can “distribute its profits, as well as its partners, as long as it is outside the framework of the seizure, and there is no legal barrier for Syriatel to distribute its profits.”

Makhlouf explained that next Sunday will be the end of the legal deadline (15 days) to start implementing the contents of the book that he sent to Syriatel’s management (placed under judicial custody), which requires the distribution of profits and the election of the board. directive.

Makhlouf added that “the law is clear and explicit that 10% of the company’s shareholders can apply for a general assembly contract and distribute the profits.”

Thus, he stated, “Syriatel must, by force of law, pay an amount of 7 billion to get rid of those affected by the fires on the coast, including those affected by the forest fires that occurred a short time ago”, after “several requests were received so that we do not forget them,” according to Makhlouf.

Makhlouf asked “all those who take care of the homeland and the citizen and who follow the application of laws and regulations according to which the right of people to live is safeguarded by supervising the payment of the seven billion pounds and not delaying their disbursement especially in light of these difficult economic conditions. “

Makhlouf noted that Syriatel shareholders, who said they constitute some 6,000 families, are also experiencing these circumstances.

Makhlouf presented his legal views on the issues raised after announcing the donation of funds, including that he cannot dispose of his money because it is under surveillance.

And Makhlouf registered the most prominent of these questions about the legality of the payment, will it be disbursed from the sums withheld, will it be able to pay in light of the state demand for large sums and has the company become state property?

Makhlouf said that after “reviewing experienced experts”:

1- According to what was explained above, our letter sent to the company came in accordance with the laws and regulations in force.

2- The Syriatel company is not the state, but the state receives 20% of its income, which is equivalent to almost 50% of its profits. It is a public limited company that has offered part of its shares for public subscription under which it is owned by more than 6000 shareholders in addition to the ownership of Ramac Development and Humanitarian Projects Company in it and according to which it helps with all its income to a large segment of the Syrian people.

3 – The company can pay the amounts claimed to the state in installments, with interest paid according to what was agreed with them, in addition to paying part of the profits to shareholders, including those affected by the fires.

4- The amount of the subsidy, which is 7 billion lire, is not from the amounts withheld, because the seizure is imposed on us personally and not on Syriatel or its partners.

He explained that the company can “distribute its profits, as well as its partners, as long as it is not in the framework of the seizure. There is no legal objection to Syriatel distributing its profits to the Ramak Development and Humanitarian Projects Company, which is also outside the framework of the seizure, and therefore the company has the right to use its money to pay its fees or donate them, especially those that will be distributed. ” Under the supervision of the state. “

Makhlouf concluded that “there is no problem with the payment as long as the distribution is not for my own person due to the seizure.”

He asked “the interested parties not to deprive our people of this assistance, because they urgently need it and do not try to create excuses, since all the procedures are legal and constitutional.”

Makhlouf concluded by saying that he hopes that they “will not try to use the judiciary to place additional reserves that prevent the payment of the grant amount to those in need and therefore deny them assistance.”

On the 13th of this month, Makhlouf announced his donation of 7 billion Syrian pounds to the population of the areas affected by the recent fires in Syria, and that amount is equivalent to about 5.5 million dollars at official prices, and 3 , 5 million dollars according to the parallel price.
