The medical and health professional bodies of the “Free Patriotic Movement” issued the following statement:
“Given the magnitude of the health disaster we are experiencing and the grim scenario that awaits Lebanon and the Lebanese, the medical organizations and health professions of the Free Patriotic Movement call for exceptional measures to try to understand the repercussions of the rapid and deadly spread of the Coronavirus. The agencies support the statement of medical committees in hospitals issued today to achieve the following points:
1 – Transfer of some private hospitals, in addition to the government, exclusively to receive and treat Corona patients, with the aim of increasing capacity by maintaining other hospitals to attend emergency cases. These hospitals are chosen according to their geographic location, their engineering structure, and the percentage of their team.
2 – Stop providing medical services except for emergencies, and transfer some of the medical teams to their various specialties to care for Corona patients.
3 – Work to overcome all the difficulties to legislate the importation of Corona vaccines from various sources, and allow private companies to import them within scientific, commercial and ethical controls, provided that the members of the medical corps benefit first from them.
4- Facilitate the importation of necessary medical equipment and drugs by opening exceptional allocations, exempting fees and avoiding exclusive agencies.
The organs of the medical and health professions of the Free Patriotic Movement also demand:
– From the security and judicial organizations to strike with an iron fist to repress the violations due to the lack of individual and moral responsibility of some, and their formation of a great threat to the security of the health community.
Quickly reconsider the overall closure decision and limit only the necessary exceptions.
Pass exemptions and quick financial and in-kind aid for citizens who commit to their homes to help them resist during the entire period of general closure.
Establish a rescue body that includes official authorities (ministries and agencies), private sector stakeholders, relevant unions and active parties on the ground to lead the battle and ensure the implementation of required decisions.
What is required today is solidarity and interdependence between the public and private sectors and between all components of society, parties and associations to face the disaster that has occurred, since the disease threatens everyone with its diverse social, political and religious affiliations .
Medical organizations and health professionals put all their capacities at the disposal of the Corona Response Team in the Free Patriotic Movement to help as part of the response plan to face this difficult and dangerous stage of the pandemic, to support the firm people in their homes and support Corona patients and their families by providing psychological, social and health support.
