On the first anniversary of the outbreak of the revolution in Iran, some protesters revealed heinous crimes against them.

A new investigation by Amnesty International revealed that the Iranian regime cut off the internet during protests that broke out in November last year, to hide the true number of deaths of protesters who were killed by security forces.

On November 15, 2019, Iran witnessed protests in various parts of the country, after the authorities announced the imposition of a significant increase in fuel prices.

According to human rights reports, the security forces killed hundreds of protesters, including women and children, indicating that these forces followed a policy of shooting with intent to kill, as evidenced by the fact that the majority of those killed they were wounded and killed in the head or torso.

On the second day of the protests, the Tehran regime cut Internet connections in the country. An investigation by Amnesty International showed that that day also witnessed the bloodiest protests, as more than 100 protesters were shot dead by security forces and the Basij militia of the Revolutionary Guard.

Human rights sources and the Iranian opposition confirm the actual number of people killed in those protests, much higher than has been revealed so far, but the continued cover-up by the regime in Tehran has made it difficult or impossible to know the actual figures.

“As news of the bloody crackdown began to repeat itself, the world was shocked by the level of brutal violence from the security forces,” said Diana Eltahawy, Amnesty International Deputy Director for Middle East and North Africa. Authorities deliberately cut off internet access within Iran, concealing the true extent of the horrific human rights violations it was committing across the country.

“The government believed that it could silence the population by cutting off the country’s Internet connection, but the Iranian people were determined to inform the world of the truth,” he added.
