Argentine President Alberto Fernández announced through Twitter that he had tested positive for the new Corona virus and that he was awaiting confirmation of the result, indicating that he was in good spirits.

“At the end of the day, after registering a temperature of 37.3ºC and feeling a slight headache, I took a test and gave a positive result,” Fernández wrote in a tweet posted after midnight.

The president, who turned sixty-two this Friday, spends his time in isolation as a precautionary measure and said he is “in good health.”

The Argentine president had received two doses of the Russian vaccine (Sputnik V), the first on January 21 and the second on February 11.

The presidential office said Fernández received the first dose of the Russian-made corona virus vaccine in January at a hospital in the capital Buenos Aires.

Argentina is currently facing a second wave of the Corona virus epidemic, and the country has recorded around 2.3 million infections so far and more than 56,000 deaths from the virus.
