New US sanctions against Syrian individuals and institutions: who did they include?

The United States accused Taher of being a major supplier to the Syrian Army’s Fourth Division, including through the establishment of a private security company that became the “unofficial executive arm” of the division.

The US Treasury Department said that Taher also created the Emma Tel communications company as a competition to the company of the businessman and cousin of Syrian President Rami Makhlouf.
