Iranian Security Minister Mahmoud Alawi revealed new details on Monday night about the murder of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, who was considered one of the most prominent nuclear scientists, and said that a member of the Iranian armed forces was involved in murder while preparing preparations.
Alawi’s statement came in the context of defending his ministry against criticism of his men’s performance after the assassination near the capital Tehran, rejecting those criticisms. In an interview with Iranian television, he said that the Security Ministry had warned of the possibility of Fakhrizadeh’s murder in the same place where he was killed five days before the operation.
He explained: “We were informed that the enemy planned to assassinate the martyr Fakhri Zadeh in this place, but we did not know the time of the operation only,” noting that the ministry invited the relevant authorities of the armed forces to a session. to discuss the issue, “because the martyr Fakhri Zadeh was a member of the armed forces and the person who prepared the preparations. The initial assassination was a member of these forces, and we cannot do intelligence work between the armed forces.” He revealed that the murder had occurred before the encounter.
Fakhrizadeh, Iran’s foremost nuclear, defense and missile research scientist, was assassinated on November 27 near the capital, Tehran.
Iranian authorities officially accused Israel of being behind the killing, along with other allegations that the United States and Saudi Arabia had cooperated with him, and the opposition organization Mujahideen Khalq, of participating in the execution.
On the other hand, the Iranian Security Minister said the United States planned to attack Iran, “but military maneuvers by the armed forces removed the specter of war from the country.”
