Officials in Nashville said at a news conference Saturday that they could not confirm the identity of the perpetrator, noting that more than 500 reports related to the case have reached police since the bombing.
On Friday morning, a powerful explosion rocked Nashville, Tennessee, in an act that appeared to be “intentional,” according to police in the city in the southern United States.
The explosion occurred at 06:30 local time, causing significant material damage to nearby shop windows.
The trees were uprooted, while at least two cars exploded, one of them related to the blast, according to police.
Residents felt the explosion miles from where it occurred. Police said in a tweet that the explosion “appears to have been a deliberate act.”
At least three people were slightly injured and taken to hospital, according to media reports, citing the fire department.
The explosion occurred north of the city center near a building that is one of the landmarks of the Country Music Capital, and is called “Batman Tower” for its external engineering. Security forces cordoned off the neighborhood.
