When Russell received a surprise call to participate with the Mercedes team in the Sakhir Grand Prix last week, after seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton was infected with the Corona virus.

The Mercedes team can still try to participate in the Abu Dhabi Tour even if this is limited to the qualifying session and the race only. Consequently, Russell heads to the Yas Marina Circuit and prepares for Team Mercedes, but realizes that there is a possibility that he will return to Williams at any moment.
