Today, Sunday, prisoner Maher Al-Akhras continues his hunger strike for the 98th consecutive day, amid his insistence on continuing his fight to freedom, and the intransigence of the occupation by refusing to release him.

The head of the Prisoner and Executive Affairs Authority, Major General Qadri Abu Bakr, confirmed that there is great danger to the life of the prisoner Maher al-Akhras, as he gradually began to lose his sense of hearing and sight and he seemed unable to speak, and his vital organs were threatened.

Abu Bakr said that “the silent prisoner is approaching his 100th day on strike, and the occupation is still stubborn and delaying his release and insisting on completing his current administrative detention decision.”

He added: “The prisoner refused to end the attack except by immediately canceling his administrative detention or transferring him to a Palestinian hospital in the occupied West Bank, as he knows the occupation is stalling and can extend his detention again.”

Abu Bakr explained that the European Union and human rights organizations began to take action and demand the occupation to end the suffering of the Mute Prisoner, although the demands were late, but are important at this time, noting that the Palestinian efforts are not they have stopped at the attribution of the Mute Prisoner in this heroic battle by following him up at the highest levels ”.

Abu Bakr claimed that the occupation courts are nothing more than mock and formal courts, and are nothing more than a tool and a tool in the hands of the Zionist Shin Bet, who is uncompromising in freeing the mute prisoner, even though his life is at stake. in Game.

The mute prisoner continues to reject his administrative detention, amid the serious deterioration of his health, since the mute prisoner suffers severe pain throughout his body, frequent cramps, loss of consciousness, difficulty moving, poor hearing and vision, as well as difficulty to breathe.

And the captive al-Akhras (49 years old), from the city of Silat al-Dhahr in Jenin, is married, the father of six children and works in agriculture, and a former prisoner has been arrested several times since 1989 and spent about 4 years in occupation prisons sporadically.

The occupation forces arrested Al-Akhras on July 27, 2020, and he was transferred to administrative detention for a period of four months, and from the moment he was arrested, he went on an open hunger strike.
