The daily “Bild” reported that German Chancellor Angela Merkel informed her party leadership on Monday that Coronavirus infections can register 19,200 cases per day in the country, if the current trend continues, but stressed the need keep the economy going.

The widely circulated newspaper, which did not mention the source of its information, quoted Merkel as saying: “We must intervene quickly and contain the infection.”

He added: “We have to establish priorities, which are the continued operation of the economy and the continuous opening of schools and nurseries. Soccer is secondary today.”
