The Ottawa department held a mass at St Charbel Church to comfort the souls of the martyr President Sheikh Bashir Gemayel and the Phalanx Party Secretary General Nizar Najarian and by fellow Lebanese resistance icon Jocelyn Khoueiry.
The head of the Ottawa department, Comrade Samir Mufleh, made a speech in which he said:
With all affection and appreciation, I extend my most sincere thanks to the Bishop of Canada, Abina Paul Marwan, for his presence and presiding over the Sacrifice, to His Excellency the Ambassador of Lebanon to Canada, Mr. Fadi Ziadeh, to the coordinator of the Party of the Lebanese Phalanges in Canada, to Comrade Elie Matta, to the coordinator of the Free Forces Party in Canada to George Chamoun, and to the head of the Patriot Forces of Canada in the Armed Forces of Lebanon in Canada. Ottawa Jawdat Naim, Vice President of the Continental Lebanese Cultural University in the World Comrade Kamal Ghanem, the Parish Council of the Saint Charbel Church represented by Mr. Tony Yaqoub, the Parish Council of the Church of Saint Peter and Paul represented by the Mr. Hashem Hashem and the head of the Zahle congregation Mrs. Carole Nehme and all personalities, friends, colleagues and comrades. The same martyr Bashir Gemayel, martyr of the republic, comrade Nizar Najarian, general secretary of the Lebanese Phalanx Party, comrade Jocelyn Khoueiry, and all those who were martyred in the terrible explosion in the port of Beirut, praying to God that may your witness be a lit candle in the dark tunnel through which our beloved country, Lebanon, passes.
Lebanon will not die thanks to our martyrs. “
