Lebanese Interior Minister Mohamed Fahmy announced that the high number of coronavirus infections will lead to the decision to shut down Lebanon again.

Fahmy said: “The high number of infections with the Coronavirus will lead to the decision to close Lebanon again, at a time when the director of Rafic Hariri Hospital, Dr. Firas Abyad, warned the government of the next difficult weeks for staff. medical and nursing “.

This comes at a time when the Corona counter in Lebanon continues to rise as the Health Ministry announced 2,136 new Corona infections on Friday night, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 16,8069, in addition to the record of 14 deaths.

With the registration of the first case of the new Corona strain in Lebanon, and the possibility of stopping flights from London, Fahmy said after their meeting yesterday, Maronite Patriarch Bechara Al-Rahi, that “there is a specialized committee and doctors that determine whether there is a need to close the airport, and it is not the Minister of Health or the Interior who determines this. While he expressed his hope that “Corona’s injuries remain as they are so that the country does not close due to the bad economic situation.”

Noting that “the government’s task is to create a balance between economic and health conditions, and the high number of injured will inevitably lead to the closure of the country.”

All this comes with expectations of an increase in the number of injured during the holidays, since there is a clear deviation from preventive measures, especially while restaurants and cafes are open.
