Beirut – “Al-Quds Al-Arabi”:
Following the sanctions imposed by the United States on the leader of the Free Patriotic Movement, Deputy Gebran Bassil, and the crisis in relations with Arab and European countries caused by the movement’s relationship with Hezbollah and the demand for Syria’s return to the Arab League , the diplomatic relations official of the Free Patriotic Movement, Michel de Shadarvian, resigned from His position, criticizing what he called “the contradictions, superficialities, private and personal calculations that contradict all the principles outlined by General Michel Aoun.”
A statement issued by de Shadarovian said: “When my struggle in the Free Patriotic Movement, as responsible for diplomatic relations, requires interaction with all the diplomatic missions accredited in Lebanon, in order to clarify and defend the principles and objectives of the movement , and contribute to its achievement … The task is almost impossible, in light of the contradictions, superficialities and private and personal accounts, which contradict all the principles established by General Aoun, and when this reality becomes a matter of constant criticism of the policies of the Free Patriotic Movement by all members of the diplomatic corps in Lebanon, which makes my responsibility an absurd task, In keeping with my conscience and the principles of patriotism and the Free Patriotic Movement, I see how my duty to resign from the mission that I assumed for 30 years, that is, since 1990 informally, and since 2005 officially, as head of diplomatic relations in the Free Patriotic Movement, and I wish to those who assume this position after me. Success in this difficult task.
Shadarovian is expected to begin coordination with the Aounist opponents of the current leadership line, who will hold a retreat meeting of former leaders and retired officials to launch a new organizational project.
Subsequently, the secretariat of the Free Patriotic Movement announced that “within the framework of the restructuring and distribution of responsibilities in the movement, especially with regard to the redistribution of roles in relations with others, including parties, referents and embassies, the Mr Michel de Chadarvian presented yesterday to the leader of the movement his resignation from the Action Committee. The diplomat is in the office of the Vice President for Political Affairs, his resignation was accepted and he was thanked for all his previous efforts.
