Lebanon has entered the worst case scenario … Hunger and fear are just around the corner.

People expected white smoke to come out of Mustafa Adib’s government “chimney”. They had little hopes that they could be saved from the horrors of high prices and the black dollar monster, but they were disappointed and suffered an economic setback.

As soon as Adeeb quit, the dollar exchange rate went up, chicken disappeared, the price of meat and vegetables rose, and eggs were sold with “grain” if available. The country has entered the worst scenario in its history, everyone leans towards responsibility, while the citizen drinks the poison of the crisis, according to Ahmed, the young man who read with great fear the failure to form a government.

He said: “We are entering a dangerous tunnel. We are looking for gasoline, but we cannot find it. If it is available, it is not possible to obtain a quantity whose price exceeds 10 thousand or 20 thousand at most.” Ahmed holds the main traders responsible for monopolizing the material to sell on the black market. He does not hesitate to say: “We are afraid to eliminate subsidies because at that moment the cars will stop and the country will collapse even more.”

People were disappointed that the crisis they were experiencing could be resolved, they counted on forming the government to correct a little the inflation that was drowning them. But what was expected happened, “the ax fell on the head.” The government fell and all the dreams made to face the living crisis fell to a dangerous point.

It was difficult for Abu Ali to accept the idea that “the country flew away.” The taxi driver who parked his car to the side, after closing most of the gas stations in the area, sat on a small balcony adjacent to a station in the city of Ansar, sipping his bitter cup of coffee, watching the evolution of the new situation and repeating “We want to connect.”

Long ago, Abu Ali boycotted political events in Lebanon. According to the sixty years, the citizen has the responsibility because he has kept his rights and did not shout. Abu Ali no longer has anything that urges him to be patient, he is afraid to remove subsidies on gasoline, then he will lose his last source of livelihood, and the citizen fears the scenario of removing subsidies for goods. His fears increased after entering the country in a dark tunnel, due to the lack of training of the rescue government.

On the other hand, citizens did not see any improvement from subsidizing some food products, according to Muhammad, who threw the bag of rice aside after learning that its price was equivalent to his daily, that is, 25 thousand, not to mention the Monopoly control and the greed of the merchants who, according to Muhammad, exploit the need of the people and impose the price. Suitable for your benefit, while the absent economy ministry is present amid all this tumult.

And nobody could control the manipulation of the dollar, so the crisis of the failure of the formation of the government affected its shadow on the citizen, the latter was frustrated, since he lost the last hair of salvation, what if the subsidies were removed to fuels and medicines? Can you still cope with rising price inflation? What fate awaits the mostly unemployed, at the mercy of high prices and between the jaws of the pincers of corruption and collapse?

Perhaps what young Yusef al-Twenty said expresses the opinion of many young people. He considered that “we have to endure what happened. We are part of this collapse because we accept our humiliation and do not yell.” Youssef admits that “he cannot buy even a carton of eggs, and is forced to buy eggs with the pill, since the current conditions are very bad. The latter, like others, dispensed with many of the comforts of before, but what he fears is the elimination of subsidies for medicines at that time, “disaster falls and the people rise, except for the health of the citizen.”
