Lebanon Escapes Sunni-Shiite Assassinations and Seditions … New Details on Kaftoun Crime and “A Good Catch”

The security services failed to arrest any of the perpetrators of the crime, however the security services could of the other 11 people arrested (9 detained by the Subdirectorate of Information and two by Army Intelligence), whether they are members of the cell or their associates.

Investigations by the Army’s Information and Intelligence Branch also revealed that the cell planned to carry out security operations (robberies and kidnapping for ransom) to finance its terrorist operations in Lebanon. And it defined the scope of its work in the north and the Bekaa. Sources revealed that this cell operates a series of associated cells to carry out assassinations and cause discord between Sunni and Shiite areas. It is noteworthy that most of the group’s members were previously arrested and of those with precedents in the world of terrorism, knowing that they are divided between Lebanese, Palestinians and Syrians. Even the group’s emir was arrested in 2017 while trying to join ISIS.
