Days after an unknown ship loaded with benzene entered Lebanese territorial waters without permission or prior request, the Lebanese judiciary arrested its agent and captain pending an investigation.
Lebanon had stopped the ship “Jaguar S”, last Saturday, in front of the facilities in the Zahrani area, in southern Lebanon, where the information probably came from Greece and investigations began.
Today, Tuesday, the Lebanese Attorney General announced the arrest of the consignee who imported the cargo, and the captain of the ship pending investigation, in the context of his entry loaded with benzene, and it was found that it did not arrive at the request of any official or any private company, according to the National Agency for the media “.
The “Central News Agency” reported that the suspended vessel “Jaguar S” was from Sidon, in southern Lebanon, and the owner of the shipment was from Tripoli, in the north.
Hours after the Lebanese media announced, on Saturday, the existence of this vessel, the General Directorate of Petroleum – Department of Petroleum Installations issued a statement in which it revealed that it was unaware of the vessel located off the Zahrani area (in the south ) in Lebanese territorial waters and who did not know where it came from.
