Lebanese-born pop singer Mika will present a live online concert over the weekend to raise funds for the victims of the August 4 attack on the port of Beirut.
The ceremony will be attended by Mexican actress Salma Hayek and Australian singer Kylie Minogue.
Some 190 people were killed and 6,000 injured in the massive explosion that turned areas of the Lebanese capital into rubble and exacerbated the country’s economic and political crisis.
“There is a lot of anger, a lot of sadness,” Mika told Reuters in an interview on the Zoom video show.
“So I think it’s important to spark sympathy, show the human side of things, use music … and focus only on this human aspect for a while rather than just politics, which is what happens most of the time. of time, “he added.
Proceeds from the concert, which is broadcast on the Mika YouTube channel using a special link at 19:00 GMT, are allocated to Save the Children and the Lebanese Red Cross to support their field work in Beirut. The ticket sells for $ 12.95.
Mika said the dancers will be photographed in their local venues rather than being photographed indoors, which brings more diversity, and the concert will show people shocked by the explosion, including George’s family, who was born in a hospital with a shock wave but survived and called him the “miracle boy”.
