Dr. Hassan Diab, head of the Lebanese interim government, today called on French President Emmanuel Macron to continue supporting Lebanon in this difficult phase and to continue his efforts and initiative to help Lebanon.
In a statement issued today, Diab said: “We have been blessed with the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron to help Lebanon meet the challenges it faces at various political, social, economic and financial levels, and we wish that the first Designated Minister, Mr. Mustafa Adib, managed to form a government quickly, taking advantage of the French momentum. And the push for internal consensus to appoint the designated prime minister. Regrettably, the apology came today to turn things back and exacerbate the difficulties for Lebanon and the Lebanese.
He added: “I appeal to the French President to continue supporting Lebanon in this difficult phase and to continue his efforts and initiative to help Lebanon,” noting that the conditions in which Lebanon lives are exceptional and require exceptional efforts, and that political forces stop the practices and interactions that threaten what remains of the firmness components. Homeland.
He noted that the apology of the Prime Minister-designate requires the speedy conduct of binding parliamentary consultations to assign a person to form a government capable of coping with the difficult phase that Lebanon is going through.
For his part, Mr. Nabih Berri, President of the Lebanese Parliament, affirmed his adherence to the French initiative in accordance with its content.
A statement issued by the media office of the president of the Lebanese parliament said: “No one adheres to the French initiative as much as we do, but there are those who stifled it in contradiction with all established principles.” .
The statement continues: “I believe that all the blocs with these reforms and Parliament are more motivated to approve what should be, and we are in our position to adhere to the French initiative according to its content.”
Dr. Mustafa Adeeb, the Lebanese Prime Minister-designate, announced today that he apologized for continuing with the task of forming the new government, amidst the difficulties encountered in the process of forming his government around ministerial portfolios.
The French initiative announced by the French president during his visit to Lebanon on September 1 is based on the formation of a Lebanese government that will implement reforms within three months, as Macron announced at the time that Lebanese political parties informed him of his commitment to form a government in 15 days.
