The meeting held yesterday between Lebanese President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri dismissed all the positives sent out by the meeting that took place the day before yesterday after a long hiatus between the two men, especially with Hariri’s speech yesterday on “complications and loss of confidence”.
Hariri’s meeting with Aoun yesterday failed to overcome the pending problems, the most important of which became, after the fall in the demand for the “third-party obstructor”, in relation to President Michel Aoun’s claim to the Ministries of Justice and Interior, in addition to the defense that will remain on his part, which Hariri rejects, especially since any amendment in them would lead to a redistribution of all other ministries.
Following his meeting with Aoun, Hariri spoke about the complications and trust that had been lost between the parties over the past year, while affirming his and the president’s eagerness to speed up the formation of the government. He said: “We were hoping there would be a government before that, but there may still be clear complications in the problems of politics, but I tell the Lebanese, nobody tells them that we cannot stop the collapse, and the most important thing is that this The collapse needs a government to stop it, and it needs A government of specialists so that we can advance with the reform we want, Mr. President, myself and all Lebanese ”.
He added: “From this point of view, I hope that everyone realizes that I will not stop until the formation of a government of specialists, which is also what the President of the Republic wants, but the dispute is for other matters, and may be because of the trust that may have been lost in the past year, and that we must have. We rebuild it between games. But everyone should know that politicians don’t have time, and politicians should also know that the country is collapsing very quickly. Accelerating the formation of a government is the basis, as long as the government of specialists and experts knows what they are doing, without being politicized, “and he adds:” We want people to tell us no when we are wrong. We want people to really benefit from them for the benefit of the country.
Hariri addressed the Lebanese saying: “We may be late in forming the government, and this issue unfortunately puts pressure on the country, but I know that His Excellency the President is interested in forming this government, and I too have the same concern. , and we will continue working and communicating with each other until the formation of this government. But no one is telling the Lebanese that this collapse cannot be stopped. By the time this government is formed, we will work hard to achieve it. “There are tough decisions that we will make, and there are quick decisions that we will make. This is the only way that allows us to work with our allies abroad and the international community to return Lebanon to where it should be.”
Hariri stressed the need for Lebanese to feel “that there is now a safety net that protects it in this country, and this cannot be achieved without forming a government,” and asked officials to think of Lebanese of all categories. whose wages are now worthless, and the unemployed. He concluded by asking “humility and thinking about the interest of the country, without overcoming the interest of one party over another, but the interest of a nation”, considering that the government must be formed after the New Year, “The Lebanese citizen does not want to see Saad Hariri going to the Republican Palace and coming back from it. Without government.
Hariri’s visit yesterday was the fourteenth since he was appointed to form a government two months ago, and it came as the one that preceded it after the efforts of the Maronite Patriarch Bechara Al-Rahi, who interfered in the line of convergent points of view after the exacerbation of the differences between Aoun and Hariri. Al-Ra’i met last week with the two parties that promised to facilitate the task of forming a government, as did Representative Gebran Bassil. Another decade prevented reaching an agreement and forming a government before the New Year.
