The North Korean leader visited the “Palace of the Sun”, “Kumsusan”, where the tomb of his late father and former leader Kim Jong Il, and his founding grandfather, Kim Il Sung, is located, without the official North Korean agency specifying the date of the visit.

South Korean news agency “Yonhap” suggested that Kim’s visit to the grave of his father, who died on December 17, 2011, took place the day before or at noon on Wednesday, because local media often advertise the activities of the leader of the country the day after it happened.

The South Korean agency quoted his counterpart from the North as stating that “leader Kim offered his love and sincerity to former leader Kim Jong Il, who dedicated his entire life to the country and the people until the last moment of his revolutionary life, and to freeze the party and the state”.

It was also reported that North Korean officials had pledged on this occasion to “vigorously defend the ideas and achievements of the late leader Kim Jong-il and fulfill their heavy duty in the sacred fight for a new victory for the socialist cause under the leadership of the Supreme leader”.

Kim was accompanied on this visit by his sister Kim Yoo Jong, first vice chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party, as well as other senior officials.

Yonhap said North Korea used to “organize large monuments in the past in Pyongyang to commemorate the death of former leader Kim Jong Il on the first, second, third and fifth anniversaries, but it is unlikely that it will organize them this year amid continued efforts. to fight the Corona virus. ” A novelty, since it tends to regulate it every five or ten years ”.
