For his part, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the war between Azerbaijan and Armenia cannot solve the existing crisis between them.

Rouhani added that the solution to the crisis is through dialogue and that Tehran is ready to provide the necessary assistance to resolve the dispute between Baku and Yerevan.

Ali Akbar Velayati, an adviser to the Iranian guide, said that Armenia must return to internationally recognized borders, emphasizing that his country opposes the occupation of Azerbaijani lands to the same extent that it rejects the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

Velayati added that Iran is recommending to its friends in Turkey not to spill oil on the fire and to help restore the occupied Azerbaijani lands without bloodshed, and said if the news of leading armed groups to war in Karabakh was true. , those who did would suffer all the repercussions.

European glued to Minsk

In this context, the High Representative for Security and Foreign Policy of the European Union, Josep Borrell, stressed that the conflict in the Karabakh region can only be resolved with the efforts of the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

Borrell stressed – in his speech during the General Assembly of the European Parliament this Wednesday – the need to declare a ceasefire by both parties as soon as possible, and to return to negotiations.

He expressed the concern of the European Union about the conflict between the two countries and pointed out that the negotiations during the last 30 years have not been successful, but that there can be no military solution to the conflict.

He indicated that the co-chairs of the Minsk Group will meet this week with the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia, and stressed that the problem can only be solved with the efforts of this group.

The Minsk Group, co-chaired by France, Russia and the United States, was established in 1992 with the aim of encouraging Armenia and Azerbaijan and mediating between them to find a peaceful solution to the Karabakh problem.

On September 27, clashes broke out on the front lines between the two countries after the Armenian army fired massively at residential sites in Azerbaijani villages, killing, injuring and causing extensive damage to civil infrastructure, according to the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry. .

The conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh dates back to the 1990s, when the Armenian-majority region separated from Azerbaijan, sparking a war that left 30,000 dead.
