The campaign team of Democratic White House candidate Joe Biden announced Thursday that vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris will suspend her trip until Sunday after discovering several cases of Covid-19 in her neighborhood.
A few hours later, Biden himself announced that he had discovered “around noon” that one of the crew members of his plane was infected with the virus, indicating that he had decided, based on the advice of his doctors, not to suspend his campaign.
Biden (77 years old), on Wednesday night, underwent a laboratory test for Covid-19, which came back negative.
The former vice president tweeted that the person from Corona “was with me on the plane, but he was more than 15 meters from me.”
He added: “This person was not only more than 15 meters away and was wearing a mask, but I was also wearing an N-19 mask,” which authorities recommend that health workers wear to avoid infection with the virus.
Biden said: “None of the members of my team also mixed with this person. My doctors felt that it was not necessary for me to quarantine myself,” adding: “Let this be an example of the importance of wearing masks and maintaining a safe distance “.
Unlike his Republican rival, President Donald Trump, Joe Biden has been in strict compliance with measures to combat the emerging corona virus, since the beginning of the pandemic, one of the pillars of his election campaign.
As for Harris’ campaign, two members of his team tested positive for the new Corona virus, they are the media director of his team and one of the crew members of his plane.
“Out of extreme caution and our campaign team’s commitment to the highest levels of prevention, we will cancel all of Senator Harris’ scheduled trips through Sunday, October 18,” said Biden’s team official, Gene O’Malley Dillon, it’s a statement.
These two people flew in with the Democratic senator on October 8.
The statement indicated that Harris had conducted two tests for Covid-19, which came back negative, and emphasized that the senator had not mixed with the two injured “during the 48 hours prior to his test.”
