The committee appointed by Amman’s Attorney General Hassan Al-Abdallat has completed the investigation into the Al-Salt government hospital tragedy, which resulted in the death of 7 people with Corona after their lack of oxygen.

The investigation committee was made up of 6 prosecutors, who charged all the defendants with the charges of causing death jointly, contrary to the provisions of articles 343 and 76 of the Penal Code, repeated 7 times, while the number of defendants reached 13 people, including the director of the Salt Hospital, his assistant, officials from the Ministry of Health, doctors and nurses.

According to what was reported by the Al-Rai newspaper about the accusation in the case, the sensory revelation indicated that the two oxygen tanks were 160 liters and had a pressure of 2.6 bar, which indicates that they were almost empty. The investigation also found that the direct reason for the depletion of the main oxygen supply is the failure to fulfill the task of the employee responsible for ordering the supply, receipt and storage of gases in tanks.

The investigation noted: “There is a failure in the oxygen reserve transfer system (the alternative plan in the event of a main source outage), represented by the fact that this system is transferred manually and not automatically, in addition to the absence of a valve that prevents the return of oxygen to the main tank from the cylinders as an alternative if the oxygen is depleted. In the tanks, it was not possible to activate the manual transfer because the employee responsible for that in the hospital was not present , and he was informed, and his attendance took about an hour, forcing medical personnel to manually resuscitate patients and request civil protection supplies.

The investigation pointed out that “11 cases suffered a deterioration in their health status of 58 patients in the departments who were subjected to lack of oxygen”, indicating that “the health personnel in the hospital is more than 330 doctors and 450 nurses who have not been used consistently with the emergency event, and that the reason for the defect in the distribution is the negligence of the hospital administration and the negligence of the hospital director and his nursing assistant, administrative and technical matters. “
