A Jordanian security source said today, Saturday, that Jordanian citizens, Sharif Hassan Bin Zaid, Basem Ibrahim Awad Allah and others have been arrested for security reasons, according to the Jordan News Agency.
The source added that the detention process took place after a close security monitoring, indicating that the investigations began with the detainees without mentioning the security reasons.
However, an informed source confirmed that His Royal Highness Prince Hamzah bin Al Hussein is not under domiciliary residence or in detention, as reported by some media, according to the Petra Jordan Agency.
In addition, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General PSC Yusef Ahmed Al-Huneiti, confirmed on Saturday the incorrectness of the complaints published about the arrest of His Highness Prince Hamzah, but indicated that he had asked him to stop the movements and activities used to attack Jordan’s security and stability in the framework of extensive joint investigations carried out by the agencies. As a result, Sharif Hassan bin Zaid, Basem Ibrahim Awad Allah and others were arrested.
Major General Al-Hunaiti said that the investigations are continuing, and their results will be disclosed with full transparency and clarity, highlighting that all the measures that have been taken were carried out within the framework of the law and after extensive investigations. He added: “No one is above the law and the security and stability of Jordan prevail over any consideration.”
