Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga has officially announced that his government has stopped issuing new entry visas to citizens of all countries in the world, due to the emergence of a more aggressive Corona variant.
“Due to the discovery of this new boom, we have taken swift measures to protect the lives and safety of our people,” the Japanese prime minister told reporters at his residence in Tokyo.
The Japanese prime minister noted that the new strain of the Corona virus, according to experts, is more contagious, saying: “However, the means of prevention remain the same. I invite you to comply with the rules such as washing your hands and using protective masks, and may we have a quiet vacation next New Year. ” .
And in Japan, the ban on entering and issuing new visas to citizens of all countries and regions of the world came into force on Monday, in relation to the discovery of the new Corona virus mutation.
These measures will be in force at least until the end of January next year. During this period, only Japanese citizens and foreigners who are permanent residents and have long-term visas will be allowed to enter the country.
If they return from countries where the new clone was discovered, they will need a document confirming that they are free of infection within 72 hours of arrival, and they will have to pass another test at the airport.
In addition, the Immigration Control Authority did not start canceling new visas issued before December 28, except for documents issued in Great Britain and South Africa, as well as people who visited these two countries within 14 days before their arrival in Japan, since the entrance was closed to these groups.
As of Sunday, Japan had recorded 222,000 new coronavirus cases, and nearly 3.3,000 people had died, and there are currently nearly 660 people in Japanese hospitals in critical condition in intensive care units.
