Conte considered that the explosion in the port shook not only Lebanon, but the entire international community. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense in the interim government, Zeina Aker, representative of the Prime Minister, received Conte in the VIP lounge of the Rafic Hariri International Airport, in the presence of the Italian Ambassador in Lebanon Nicoletta Bombardieri, the Director General of Civil Aviation Fadi Al-Hassan and the delegation accompanying her.

During the meeting in the Hall of Honor, the Italian Aker thanked the government and the people for their efforts to support Lebanon, after the Beirut port explosion and during the Corona epidemic crisis. He highlighted the rapid response to Lebanese assistance, especially through the Italian military field hospital located on the campus of the Lebanese University in Hadat, and the food and medical aid that arrived at the port aboard the Italian naval ship San De Gusto.
