Citizen demands
Conte said: “The time has come to look ahead and build trust among citizens and institutions, as well as to write a new page in the history of Lebanon.” Considering that it is “a very great challenge. But thanks to the Lebanese authorities who can adhere to a path of renewal of the institutions and the government, anything is possible. These demands have been demanded by civil society organizations and citizens since long ago, “stating that” Italy respects the sovereignty of the Lebanese people and will remain close to them. New to achieve reconstruction, with a reform program that includes the legitimate demands of citizens. He added: “It is necessary to build this road , for Lebanon to enjoy a prosperous and peaceful future. I have expressed this position to the President of the Republic. Engineering Regiment and Field Hospital
Conte considered that the explosion in the port shook not only Lebanon, but the entire international community. He offered his condolences on behalf of the Italian government and the Italian people, noting that “Italy was and will remain on the front line, to respond to the emergency phase and the initial reconstruction phase.” He said: “We intervened immediately through the Italian civil defense, sending medical and health aid to Lebanon, and we sent a military field hospital with advanced capabilities. Teams from the Italian Army’s Engineer Regiment were also sent to work in the port.”

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense in the interim government, Zeina Aker, representative of the Prime Minister, received Conte in the VIP lounge of the Rafic Hariri International Airport, in the presence of the Italian Ambassador in Lebanon Nicoletta Bombardieri, the Director General of Civil Aviation Fadi Al-Hassan and the delegation accompanying her.

During the meeting in the Hall of Honor, the Italian Aker thanked the government and the people for their efforts to support Lebanon, after the Beirut port explosion and during the Corona epidemic crisis. He highlighted the rapid response to Lebanese assistance, especially through the Italian military field hospital located on the campus of the Lebanese University in Hadat, and the food and medical aid that arrived at the port aboard the Italian naval ship San De Gusto.
