French Alfatauri-Honda driver Pierre Gasly achieved his first victories in the Formula One World Championship after a dramatic race in the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday, the eighth stage of the World Championship, at the old Monza circuit , who witnessed an accident by the Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc of Monaco, which caused the suspension of the race for several minutes. And a ten-second penalty for British leader Lewis Hamilton, who started first.

Spanish McLaren-Renault driver Carlos Sainz came second, while Canadian Racing Point-Mercedes driver Lance Stroll missed the Mercedes for the first time this season from the podium after Hamilton finished race seventh and his Finnish teammate Valtteri Bottas fifth.

It’s the first time a Frenchman has won a world championship since 1996, when Olivier Banis won the Monaco Grand Prix.

“It’s incredible,” said Gasli, 24, after the victory. “I don’t think I can understand what is happening now. It was a crazy race, and we benefited from the red flag.”

“We have done a lot in the last 18 months. I got on the podium for the first time last season and was in awe, and now I won my first victory at Monza, I’m trying to understand that.”

The race saw a severe accident for Luckler on lap 25 and he collided with the tire wall, causing the red flag to be raised, the race to a halt, and cars entering the garage to pull the car off the track.

Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel was knocked down on lap seven with a malfunctioning brake, in a nightmare Ferrari race in his stronghold.

Although six-time world champion Hamilton was leading the race before stopping for about 25 minutes, he was subject to a ten-second penalty for entering the garage when it was closed.

Stroll was second behind Hamilton after the second outing after the appeal, while Wasley was third, but the latter managed to overtake him with the launch, taking advantage of Hamilton entering the garage to serve his sentence and move on and win the race.

Hamilton, who has achieved five victories this season, remains at the top of the drivers’ standings by a wide margin behind Bottas and Max Verstappen of the Netherlands, who had to drop out of the race.
