Lebanese President Michel Aoun confirmed that it is not too late for the country’s demands for reform to be met.
Aoun wrote, in a tweet on his Twitter account, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the launch of the popular movements calling for the implementation of reforms on October 17, 2019, “One year after the start of the popular movements, my hand still is extended to work together to meet the demands. Reformism, since it is not possible to reform outside the institutions, and it is not too late. “

On the other hand, dozens of activists of the popular movement held today a ceremony in honor of the “martyrs of the October 17 Revolution” in the Martyrs’ Square of the capital, Beirut.

Popular movement groups from eastern, northern and southern Lebanon are preparing to go to the center of Beirut and participate in the central movement of the city to commemorate the start of the revolution.

It is noteworthy that the protest demonstrations began in Lebanon on October 17 in central Beirut, following the government’s decision to impose a tax on the application of “WhatsApp”, which soon spread to all Lebanese regions.

The protesters demanded the formation of a rescue government, the holding of early parliamentary elections, the management of the economic situation, the recovery of the stolen money, the accountability of the corrupt and the independent judiciary, but for a whole year they did not they were able to meet their demands.
