Khalaf called the Public Ministry to inform him of what happened, and presented a complaint that was accompanied by a report from the forensic doctor that accredits the attack and the beating of the lawyer. This coincided with calls by lawyers to declare a strike denouncing the attack on their colleague.
On the other hand, the account of the security forces speaks of the lawyer’s provocation to the security forces who were at the checkpoint. It points out that the lawyer used obscene words and refused to hand over the papers to the member of the security forces, “despite the fact that they spoke to him in a decent way,” and based it on a video filmed by an officer documenting the moment of the detention. The lawyer was later taken to Ramla al-Bayda’s platoon, but the bar manager broke into the platoon threatening: “However, the officers treated him with respect, despite raising their voices and forcing the detainee out.” The sources indicated that the official in question contacted the prosecutor and drew up a complaint against the lawyer and the Bar Association.
The attack came days after the Interior Minister and the Bar Association responded.
