Beirut / Naim Berjawi / Anatolia

On Monday morning, Israeli warplanes flew over several Lebanese regions, including the capital, Beirut.

According to the Anadolu Agency correspondent in Beirut, residents of the city and its surroundings clearly heard the sound of the flights.

The official Lebanese agency stated: “The hostile (Israeli) plane flies over Beirut and its suburbs.”

Israel occupies part of the Lebanese territories, which are the Shebaa farms and the Kfar Shuba hills, and in 1978 a UN Security Council resolution was issued stipulating the withdrawal of Israel from all Lebanese lands, but not has been implemented to this day.

The agency said that the Israeli plane flew over the airspace of the city of Nabatiyeh (south), reaching Iqlim al-Tuffah (south), and carried out simulated sorties at low altitude.

The agency recorded an intense flight of Israeli aircraft at very low altitude, over the Hasbaya and Arqoub areas (southeast), up to the heights of Mount Hermon and the occupied Syrian Golan.

The Israeli plane also flew over the city of Sidon (south) and Jezzine areas (south), as well as areas north of Beirut, including Jbeil, Matn and Kesrouan.

From time to time, the Lebanese army announces the record of Israeli “violations” of airspace by fighter and reconnaissance aircraft, and violations of Lebanese territorial waters by ships, at the Ras al-Naqoura border point.

Lebanon is immersed in a conflict with Israel over an area of the Mediterranean, of about 860 square kilometers, rich in oil and gas.

Since last October, Lebanon and Israel have entered into indirect negotiations to demarcate the maritime borders, and held 4 rounds of negotiations at the headquarters of the United Nations Interim Force “UNIFIL”, under their auspices and with US mediation.
